Audi has
introduced its fuel-consumption optimized version of the A4 mid-size sedan, the A4 2.0L TDIe, in Europe.
Noted by Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management in his talk at the 120th Annual General Meeting of Audi AG in May, the A4 TDIe consumes an average 4.6 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers (51.13 miles per gallon US gallon) and consequently emits 120 g CO2/km.

Key technologies to compare with the 2010 Prius:
- 134 hp - both
- 9.5/9.8 sec 0-60 mph - both
- auto-stop - both
- recoup/regenerative braking - both, Prius has more capacity
Now the European diesel makers have history 'gilding the lily' so I'm pretty sure the 51 MPG is highway only. Also, some of their technologies are likely more 'greenwash' than handling serious energy flows. But any journey begins with a single step and hopefully they will continue.
