| 2012 Prius get noise makers October 31, 2011, Autoweek, "Sound Check" by Kevn A. Wilson, pp. 10, ". . . The sound is emitted by an underhood speaker at speeds of less than 15 mph and the pitch vvaries as the vehicle slows or accelerates. The feature also was added to the 2012 versions of the Lexus CT200h and across the Prius family. . . . the company was aiming for a sound that would be autoomotive in nature but also futuristic. Played at higher volumes, it seems like something you'd hear in a science fiction movie." Whether it sounded like a turbo, F1 or a pickup truck, the pedestrian killed by a noise making Prius will be just as dead. Adding sound at best makes a Prius just as deadly as ordinary cars. But that won't stop lawyers from litigating it in civil suits. Sad, we haven't heard the last of this junk math based law. Bob Wilson |
