P0442 is a small EVAP leak -- do you have the gas cap on tight?

The rest are not valid codes. The only thing I can think is that the same buggy scanner/software is being used by these two places.

Escape Hybrid
What's interesting is that this Hybrid escape (2009) doesn't have a gas cap - the door just shuts and supposedly seals. Also I had my uncle with contacts looked up the codes for me (I wish I had known he could) and found that many of the codes are thrown incorrectly on hybrid vehicles, so I'll replace my O2 sensor first and see where that takes me.

thanks for your help!!

Oh, you have an Escape. That changes things. P0442 is still a small EVAP leak. P0130 is an O2 sensor that is unhappy. They are probably related. If your car is still under warranty, please take it to a dealership. Otherwise, start asking around for a mechanic, preferably a Ford engine/emissions specialist, that is an expert with a smoke machine. Small EVAP leaks are a PITA to find.

thanks!! I bought a sensor and a gas cap, we'll see what happens. I have a good mechanic but can only take the vehicle to him Monday, so we'll see what happens until then. Thank you so much for your input!

hello again! I bought a sensor-- "exact fit" from autozone and of course it didn't fit. Searching fordparts.com (and entering my vin) I find a Motorcraft DY-1120 for $146. Can anyone tell if this is a 5 wire? I've searched the internet and there aren't any descriptions that indicate such, and that's what I need. The universal doesn't fit here.

The failed sensor is front & position 1. Thanks for any help!!!!

Go under the car, disconnect the O2 sensor wire and count the connectors. That is the safest way to make sure.

Hi GeorgiaHybrid, I did disconnect already and for sure it's a 5 wire. I bought a 4 from Autozone.

I wasn't sure if the DY-1120 was a 5 wire or not but after another hour of searching I am pretty comfortable that its the right sensor and have ordered it. Thanks!
