need help with energy monitor screen!!! i was reading this article on how to drive my Prius for maximum fuel efficiency...according to the author, it is bad to drive on the traction (hybrid) battery alone. i know that..and he said to drive with the engine off without using the battery. he said to do this, make sure there is no arrows going or coming from anywhere on the energy monitor screen. he has the previous generation Prius so it might be different. here is the article with pics of what i am talking about http://hubpages.com/hub/How-To-Get-I...rom-Your-Prius the only time my 2010 Prius has no arrows moving around is when i come to a complete stop and the engine shuts off. he has a picture of him driving 32 MPH with NO arrows moving around. i go 32 MPH and i have an arrow coming from the traction battery that goes to the electric motor that goes to the wheels. is this the same thing that he is talking about? because on HIS screen, running on battery alone has the arrows going from battery to motor to wheels. it would make sense that my screen is different because it's the newer model.. if anyone could PLEASE help me with this i would really appreciate it.. thank you!!

2007 I have seen this I have seen this "no arrow" mode on my 2007. Basically it happens when I hit the ideal conditions between speed and level road. I don't go out of my way to put the car into this mode but I smile when I get there by accident. If your commute takes you over the same roads and conditions everyday you can experiment and find those places, speeds, and conditions that will give you a chance to run your Prius in the no arrow condition.

Did a little experiment on a short trip this morning. I was able to toggle this mode almost at will. You have to let up or push the throttle a just right for this condition to happen. I was getting it at 27mph 32mph and 42mph on flat or slight downhill conditions.
