Thanks for all that helpful info Bob.
I guess the next step is to sit in the car and type in all those parameters to Xgauge.
I need to find some time.
Maybe Sunday afternoon...
Cheers

Only a little easier is to power the unit from a 12V, wall-wart and program it in the house in front of the computer with a beverage. BUT you need the XGAUGE definitions for you model of car. We have both a 1.5L NHW11 and 1.8L ZVW30 and the XGAUGEs are unique to each model.

Yours is a Lexus 400h ?

Yep. Lexus RX400h.
How would I connect it to the mains?
I presume I would need to make a cable for the 12v adapter?Do you know which wires provide the 12v power?
Thanks

. . .
I don't have them handy but I remember pins 1 and 8. Just plug in the cable and use a volt meter to compare pins 1 (ground)? and 8 (12V.) The 12V supply is on all the time in the car.
