Curious emergency power setup
Hi,

My first Prius modification was to add a 1 kW inverter for emergency power. But I just started thinking about the impact of a power outage on a Leaf. If there is no easy way to draw appreciable power from the vehicle that energy would remain tantalizing out of reach. With a PV array, one could put a charge on the vehicle and that would help. But I easily drove two trips, nearly 70 miles round-trip to Decatur and back while we did not have local power. This makes a powerful argument for a power-trailer that provides extended range for the EV and the advantage of a plug-in vehicle.
